During summer and fall of 2015 I worked on a series of paintings that engaged in themes around my emotional experiences contrasted with the phenomenological experience of distance. In these non-representational paintings the paint is applied without a brush. Instead the transparent layers of oil were dispersed on the canvas with a foam core scraper on a hard, resistant ground forming specific marks and shapes.
