The Journey Of Magenta, 2017
Installation of 18 paintings; oil, ink and pencil on canvas, pine and plywood structural elements; painting size 64×64 inch, 160×160 cm; installation size ca 60×60 feet, 18×18 m; at THE PROJECTS in FAT Village, Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Installation visitors are invited to wander an architectural topography to discover various viewing points from which the individual paintings can be experienced. The architectural format is designed so that a specific sequence is presented and visitors can spend time with each of the paintings, one after the other. The sequence relates to the artist’s memories of spatial phenomena relating to emotional moments in time and place. Elements and atmospheres that occur in one painting often reoccur in variations in other paintings, underscoring the relationship among the series overall.
Additional collaborating artists expanded The Journey Of Magenta using media such as video, sound and performance at the space during the exhibition.
